Above, left, are two fellows during field day, fighting over the use of the power washer. They look awfully friendly, but the fight ended up with one man blind and the other with the loss of his hand, a la Luke Skywalker. Well, okay, not really.
The other, above right, shows a couple of fellows on the mess decks during what we like to affectionately term "angles and dangles". This pic shows the effects of a pretty significant down angle.
Upon looking at the picture to the right, the video from "Smooth Criminal" immediately popped into my head. I'm not trying to make any inappropriate MJ allusions/jokes here--I'm just referencing a cool video. But then again, the "angles and dangles" reference makes that diifucult... oh, nevermind. Ow! Annie are you OK?
ReplyDeleteYou've been hit by, you've been struck by, a smooth criminal!
ReplyDeleteDamn vyreque, it's in my head now! :-) Don't worry, I dig me some "Smooth Criminal" and I'm man enough to admit it. :-)
Actually, my ex-wife had the same effect on entire rooms full of people when she had gas... :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Smag, I thought you might appreciate this pic of my dad'd moto vest: http://tinyurl.com/dadsvest
ReplyDelete(I couldn't figure out how to post the actual pic instead of a link.)
-My brother is a long-time seaman and was most recently getting his boots dusty at Camp Buehring in Kuwait...

Hey skoorbza! Very cool vest! :-)
ReplyDeleteI've lost a couple of shipmates over there in that nasty sand, skorrbza, so, I wish your brother the best and all of the good wishes I can muster for him! It's a tough thing we've been asked to do over there. My best regards to your dad and bro, and to you, too! Thanks for sharing. :-)
Thanks Smag. (For all you do.)
ReplyDeleteBro is back from the desert; he worked at the EMF at Buehring the whole time. He joked that he joined the Navy so he DIDN'T have to work in the dirt.
He's back at Bethesda now, not knowing what to do now that there are no more boards to pass or tests to take!
Happy sails,
skoorbza
Halloo again! Don't know why I think you'd care, but here is a pic of my brother.
ReplyDeleteHe was honored to be the official escort for one of the recent recipients of the Congressional Gold Medal for her service flying in WWII. He even got to present her with her medal. I'm so proud of him. Her name is D.B. Tanner. She borrowed his Slash-type sunglasses halfway thru the ceremony, and her family invited him to dinner with them afterward.
(Just crowing for my bro, as he is one who doesn't crow for himself!!!)

Ah skoorbza, thank you! I read about the WASPs and their honor! What a great thing! Please tell the handsome commander that he's got a great sis! It looks to me that he's former enlisted, too? Or perhaps did aboard a boat as a midshipman (I'm speaking of his fish, which I'm glad to see him proudly wearing)? Regardless, BZ to him for it and for escorting one of those great ladies. :-)
ReplyDeleteKindest regards to you both, skoorbza. Sincerely.
Thanks, Smag. Yup, Bro started his Navy career as a lowly E1. It's been a long slog for him, but the Life suits him well. I don't know what all his medals are for, but am always amazed at his hardware! He's a good brother. Thanks so much for your kind response.
